After touring the countryside by car, we went to Stoke Golding near Nuneaton, where we had arranged to rent a narrow boat to cruise the canals between Coventry and Rugby. This is a contour canal which means there are few locks.

Our boat, Badger, was 36 ft. long and 7 ft. wide.

But there were lots of very narrow bridges.

It had a living room which converted to a bedroom, a well equipped galley, flush toilet, shower and was heated by a coal stove (which Penny learned to manage.)

We steered from the stern.

Each night we tied up to edge of the canal. It was great.
